Web Signing is a future feature to be linked to propel-lc
Web Signing is a system that allows documents to be signed electronically via the web.
It allows an “electronic signature” (i.e. a copy of the client’s “wet signature” as handwritten) as well as a “digital signature” (i.e. a digital certificate allocated to the signer) to be added to a document which is then locked down and stored in a tamper proof manner.
overview
- Web Signing will allow any document to be reviewed and signed through an encrypted web site.
- No special software to upload or equipment to install.
- When used in conjunction with an appropriate ID verification process, it fully complies with requirements of the Electronic Transactions Act 2002.
how it works
- The identity of each signatory must first be verified – this may be by the Lawyer or by a “trusted person” at the same time the LINZ Client A & I form is signed.
- The signatory:
- receives a web signing Welcome Package to help set up secure online access.
- is notified when documents are ready.
- downloads, reviews and approves (digitally signs) the documents.
security features
- Stores and Locks signed documents electronically.
- Borrower authentication uses multi-factor authentication to confirm identity.
- Verisign Digital ID attached to documents by verified Borrower.
- Hashing algorithm used to verify document content and prevent alterations.
- Document Audit Trail for every document interaction.
- Web Signing uses SSL security protocol to validate the authenticity of servers and protect data communication.
